Crossed 50k and here we go to the reality, battery problems, jumped it a few times and battery stalled 4 times in 2 weeks. Have EVP (100K till 2014) and maintenance coverage but like we all know batteries aren't covered under these programs. I know we are all smart and can go to autozone/kragens get a battery ($100) and we are happy for 6 months and problems are back. Interesting thing noticed was the battery showed ok at autozone, was low and just needed a charge, but the dealer claimed that they have a more thorough diagnostic and that found one of the cell to be dead which drained the battery, he also added roadside support from BMW cannot catch such dead cells issues. I have decided to get the battery from BMW dealership and get a quote of $660 out the door. Made a few calls and find that other dealers can do it for $500. Negotiated with my dealer and they will match the cost now. The charge breakdown is $300 for battery and $200 for retrofit (which per service advisor means, battery registry, configuring all modules to work correctly and draw the right amount of power while car is in sleep mode, omg and list goes on). It sounds weird that replacing batteries is so much of an hassle in bmw's.
