Looking around different websites, the hp is either 306 or 330. Which is it? If it is 306 I do not see it kicking the e46 M3's ass or 550. http://www.autoblog.com/2006/04/23/bmw-lau...-high-rez-shot/

Now, if it's 330hp yeah the e46 M3s will get smoked as well as the 550. For what I gathered all reports of it having 330hp was from last year. http://paultan.org/archives/2005/10/14/bmw...arged-inline-6/

EDIT: I went to Cobradav's thread and he mentioned 300hp/300 torque. With those number's it's not smoking neither the M3 nor 550, but will hopefully beat the Lexus IS350.

Agree! The 335 is going to be insane! A lot of potential...

With a simple remap and perhaps a slight increase in boost, the 335 could be a 400 hp car. If that is the case, it would rival the new M3 (V8, 400 hp) coming out soon.

I've had a 330 as a loaner recently and it is a nice little car, but I do not think I would ever consider a 3 over a 550. If a 335 beats me at a stoplight then great for him, I still have the sweeter car.

Guys,
Focus. Stock 550 vs stock 335. What are your opinions on a 1/4 mile run? I've seen some weigh on in with their opinion (thanks, BetterMakeWay). Now, what about the rest of you?

An article in this weeks Auto Express (UK) about it & they claim 5.5 as the 0-62mph (0-100kph). They reckon it matches the current M3, but the stock driving dynamics of the 335i are no match for even the current M3, so drag they would probably tie but round a track the current M3 would win.

Against a 550i i'm not so sure. I feel in a drag the 550i would just about win but round a track were weight is key i think the 335i would pip the 550i (& a DMS 535D).

Hmmm..how can 5.5 match the 4.8-4.9 I've seen for the current M3?

The E90 330i weighs 3400lbs. The E60 550i weighs 3800lbs.
When I was talking weights I was talking chassis. The 330 vs 530 would be a better comparison

530i 3472 lbs. vs the 330i 3417 lbs.

5.5 was quoted in 0 - 62mph. Still, we all know current M3s are sub 5. I don't think 335 is on par.

Maybe the sub 5 sec numbers are measured up to the US speed limit of 55mph.

I'm going out to race M3s for pinks now.
