Clearly you got a lemon, early build or not. My January '04 build has had two software updates (one an emissions recall and when for CD issues) and a faulty CD player. Beyond that, 30,000 miles, some new wheels (elective surgery!) and regularly scheduled services such as oil changes and brake fluid changes. Almost forgot, the sqeaking door seals replaced also...

My '06 550 has been trouble free. Only one time back at dealer for a sensor. I shouldn't say this, but it has yet to deveplop any squeakes or rattles. I am very pleased with the car. Much better than my 03 745i.

545's do not have push button starters. I recently purchased an '05 545i that is nothing but a joy to drive. I was able to take a look at the vehicle's history at my dealer and the car was only in the shop, other than for scheduled maintenance, a few times for minor repairs. For driving experience it does not get much better in this category.

Hi guys thanks for all the feedback well tonight on my way back from NYC in traffic a black 550 Sport pulled up and I am sold, im buying it tomorrow if I get some time to do the deal after work.

I just love the new sport package.

Lexus is very boring I will never buy one, Audi are ok but I hate AWD and they are plain ugly in my opinion, the CLS AMG is sweet man I like that car alot but its 110k

Yes I agree my 545 was a lemon but the way i look at it if this new one is a problem i can lemon law it easily if it ever came to that but BMW is great they will settle without being embarrassed with a lemon law procedure in NY from my past experiences.

Only had two problems with my 550i. The car wasn't even a year old yet when these problems happened. One was a blown power steering hose that left me stranded on a freeway with ARS warnings on iDrive to stop driving immediately. That meant a tow truck to the dealer and 1 week without the car while the part was being ordered/shipped/replaced. Then there was the SZL module in the steering wheel that disabled DSC which a lot of people had to go through. Can't forget the 4 window anti-trap malfunctions from the left-rear window. Finally, I had a clutch replacement at 5000 miles due to a failed throwout bearing which made it harder and harder to press the clutch down. Other than those problems, the car's been trouble-free thus far. Hopefully, it'll stay that way. On the other hand, there's my trusty, loyal 15 year old '92 Honda Accord with 280,000 miles, and can you believe it: zero problems since day 1.

Hello everyone i used to be on this site back in 04/05 sharing my common complaints on my early 545i Sport.

I have to admit the car still to this day has been the best driving one i ever owned hands down it blew away cars at double the price in its driving dynamics.

However i did not have it very long 7 months and 72 days of that it was in service for a number of repairs.
Active steering
seat heaters
rattles
push button start would not work
gearbox leaks
steering leaks
I drive blackouts
SRS malfuncton
Engine malfunction
Navigation freezing up
No throttle rsponse

So you can understand what i went through BMW service at the dealer and corporate was just awesome and no questions asked they took the car back and we made a cash settlement.
I have then owned a Mercedes E500 Sport, decent car but very boring, I currently have a 2005 Jaguar S Type R and the lease has expired. The Benz had some silly issues but nothing like the BMW. The Jaguar has been trouble free from day 1 and i had upgraded the cars suspension, power and wheels its a pretty sslick car and give a great bang for the buck.

Im back to car shoping, I love the BMW M5, CLS 63 but they are too $$$ on a lease I recently saw the updated 550 Sport and its HOT.

I really would like to get one but am quite fearfull after my past experiences and similar issues a few friends have on their new 335 and X5 4.8
I clearly just want to hear some feedback and i wonder if all of us back in 04/05 ever went back to BMW after all our horror stories.
Thanks

[/qThe two cars are like night and day, I too had issues with my 04 545, in fact I'll go as far to say that I grew to dislike the car. My 07 550 is an entirely different story; 17,000 trouble free miles and on the same set of tires. This car is great my only complaint is that todays lease deals are than when I got mine..... I really believe that the 04 545 was rushed to market to soon, the 550 is by far the best car I have ever owned. Go for it!
So you uote]

Yes the car was rushed to market and they used us at the test monkeys

Do they still offer the SMG?

My dealer said the steering paddles are not out yet with the auto?

When the car does break its always going to be a major issue and you cant live with it which sucks always i can never forget

What are these 550 leasing for? My 545 was full loaded and i paid $760 24 months 3800 drive off in cash
