I was having a Daddy-Daughter day with my 12 year and she was getting a lesson on how to wash the car. I told her to lift the wipers up until they stay up. She lifted the passenger wiper, and lifted, and lifted, and lifted, until POP!!!!! The spring came flying out. I removed the arm to have a look. It's different than the driver's side, so I don't have a comparison.
I'm not sure if there are any parts missing. There's a roller over a pin near the hinge point. I pressed one end of the spring over that roller. The hole that I think the other end goes into is about 1 3/4" away from the free end of the spring. The spring has a very high spring rate. I couldn't even hang from it and stretch it that far.
Can anyone tell by the picture is any parts are missing or any tricks of the trade to stretch it back out? Also, the ends of the spring are rotate 90 degrees when at rest, so the spring needs to be rotated 90 degrees as it is stretched to get it into the hole. I found that a little odd.
