Ok, I really don't care exactly how fast the 535d or 545i is since I have neither of them. The only thing that made me suspicious was the figuers you posted where the 535d was much slower than what BMW states and were a (your) 545i was much faster than BMW states.

Don't get me wrong here, I don't mistrust you. This is a draft of a letter im going to send to BMW
RE: e46 M3 / M3 CSL Dear BMW, it has recently come to my attention that the 535d produced by yourself is an easy match for the e46 m3 that you also manufacture. The 535d it around 350kg (fully specced) heavier than the M3 CSL, has a slower gearbox, has no limited slip differential, has no slick tires, has no perfect 50:50 weight disturbition, has NO m dynamic driving mode, is very nose heavy because of the weight of the diesel engine, produces 89 less horsepower, only revs to 5000rpm... And yet is just as quick as an m3 around a tracK?? :P :P In respect of the evidence presented above i see it in bmw's interest to replace the e46 M3 with the 535d , and re-lable the 535 as the ///m3 what do you think ? |
and on a similar note i posed the question "Can a 535d be as quick around the track as an E46 M3 SMG?" to
1: Valentin Popov, chief mechanic for BMW bulgaria - He laughed for about 10 minues and thanked me for making his day ... he knows nothing. 2: Klaus Dietrich, one of the chief designers of the e46 m3, particularly the suspension, which was visiting Kamor's dealership to train mechanics... -must have laughted for about an hour.. i got tired of waiting for a reply oh and the bugger didnt tell me anything about the e90 m3.. |

I think they already knew that..
|
Oh well...you know as they say...there is only one way to find out. Any 545i and even m3s on the easter nurburgring trip?:D :D
|
How did this thread get so long?
Someone summarize it for me? So how much faster is the 545i comapred to the 535d? |
