Mine does it too.

 

Mine also does that - when I asked the dealership, they said it was normal with cold weather as the automatic throttle kicks in just so that it warms up fast before you starting driving the car. This only happens during winter... kind of gotten used to it...

Curious to know if any other members experience this. On the first start of the day, I have recently begun to notice a stutter/hesitation pulling out of the driveway. It's a surging sensation similar to a stalling manual transmission. I have always let the RPMs settle to idle before setting off, and the problem only occurs on the first acceleration of the day. I have noticed the sensation with Shell and Exxon (claims to be ethanol free) gas, so I don't believe that is to blame. And as far as temperature is concerned, the car is garaged overnight so the temperature rarely drops below the mid 40s. Is this truly a winter phenomenon? By the way, I regularly perform the transmission reset and it hasn't resolved anything either. Thanks.

 

I would say normal. I have the same thing sometimes... but mine's a MT. Probably depends on ambient temp and engine temp. When you first start the engine, the "preheat" throttle opens to 1000-1100 idle until warm. If you drive during that "preheating" stage, you are putting load on drivetrain, and the rpms will drop below the predetermined setting, and the car will try to adjust.

Just a thought. Purely speculation. I think that with my MT, it is more likely a flywheel/lube issue, which would also be normal.
