Nah...I think it will be worth more or the same. I'd rather buy a car with 2 years of unlimited mileage manufacturer's warranty on the engine than a car without any engine warranty.

To the OP, how did you manage to get warranty on a 545i? It's over 5 years old, am I missing something? And what is the difference in the short vs long block engine?

His car has CPO warranty on it which expires this year and his defective engine was covered under that policy. Now that BMW has replaced his engine with a new remanufactured engine, the car now has another warranty on the engine only for 2 more years.
