Yes!
Mpg goes down as well, so the money he saves he needs for more gas... There is no real big saving, but the premium gas is better for the engine. So it would be better for him to use premium...

17 years old! I've been working my ass off all these years to appreciate a 545, and he gets handed it on his 17th birthday.

Put in the premium gas, buddy.

Quick question,

At 17 or even 19 years of age, why would you want a 5-series? Unless you have children, or need to carry passengers at all time, why would you choose the 5? Why not an M3 for the price you are paying for the 5? No bashing here, just genuinely want to know.

i'm guessing because the m3 is a little dated now and the new 5's design is so hard to resist. but this guessing is good only if he/she will keep the car for more than 3 years. the 5 is a true sport-luxury car but m3 is straightly a sport car. when he/she goes party, his/her buddies will seat more comfortably. well, maybe i'm all wrong .

well his first choice was an 05 sti but once his parents saw the HP and them thinking japanese cars arent safe, they decided they would rather buy him a benz or a bmw, we went to the benz dealership and looked at the c55 amg and the e55, he was so close to getting the c55 (his dad was willing to buy him the e55 but he didnt want it) and his mom said no because its small and has almost 400HP and then we went to the bmw dealership next door and he saw a 5 series and he liked the way it looks so he decided to take it for a test drive (they went to the bmw dealership to look at the m3) and after his parents saw the size of the m3 being a coupe and all they said no again so they just bought the 545i. he was thinking about getting the smg but the sales guy said its too much hassle or something. the main reason he got the 5 series is because the sales guy took us for a test drive and started showing what the car could do like turning really hard while going fast and stuff like that... ok, this is the reason why he bought the 545i. this is one huge run on sentence. haha.

i don't think your friend and you need to go to the showrooms. his parents pretty much had everything "under control" .

"Modding" an E60 because of the software is not like modding a BMW of old. Keep an eye on Dinan, AC Schitzer, Hamann and other quality tuners to see what's available.

Totally agree! Why on earth would a single young guy want a exec car? I would either go for X5 or 33o cab (depending on where i lived 7 how many friends i wanted to ferry around)..

I got a 323 ci in college, and it was perfect!

Anyhow, good luck to you guys
