its definitely the bushings. i currently have this problem and in the process of ordering the bushings for the control arm.
you can see the bushings totally busted when looking at the control arms on mine.
Are you getting the bushings from the dealer or somewhere else? If somewhere else can you give specifics on where and what brand?

check this link and make sure you know which control arm is busted.

Lower control arm bushings, sway bar end links, or front struts could cause this, hope this helps. Chris

sorry looks like link is not working... check out www.getbmwparts.com and enter your vehicle info. do a search for Bushings and you will see a diagram of all the parts for bushings. make sure you look at which control arm bushing is damaged. i was able to see my bushing busted once i lifted the car up.. hope this helps

Thanks for all of the information. I guess I just need to pull it up on the ramps and check it out. Hopefully something will stick out. I will keep everyone updated.

Anybody know how hard it is to change out the Control Arms if the bushings are bad? Or is it as easy as taking a couple of nuts off and replacing the part and nuts? Anybody know torque specs or where a how to is?

Lower control arm bushings are about $80 for the pair and my indy charged two hours labor total for install of both sides. Chris
