On my door sticker, where the tire pressure sticker is, My model says 545IS. Are all 545's called that or is it because of sport package?

I suspect 545is stands for SMG just as 545iA stands for automatic. But I could be completely wrong .

That S proably stands for SMG, like A stands for automatic.
A sport would more likely be an SE, sports edition, wouldn't it ?
But while we are at it... What does the 645 csi stand for ? c = coupe and we all know about the i (idrive , just kidding)... But they are called csi even when NOT having SMG transmission. So I guess on a 6series it stands for sport...
So maybe we are all wrong and the S does stand for sport... !??

I have not checked the door jamb yet. But there is no such sports package for Germany and I don't have SMG, so it's probably 545i or 545iA. I'm pretty sure it says 545i since we don't even have the built date on there, so labels over here seem to be different. But when speaking and/or mailing with BMW they allways use the term 545iA.

Rudy, I would love to check the door jamb of my car. Does anyone have directions to the VPC in South Carolina? My 545 is one of the recalled cars so I probably won't take delivery for two more weeks . BTW for those of you who say that reading the online owner's manual is a good way to pass the time, its only making me more .

I feel with you gmartin, but this car is really worth the wait and you will love it even more when you finally take delivery after a long wait.

Well, to be honest, I have directions to the VPC in SC.

You can't get your car any faster but since the VPC is part of the Spartanburg X5/Z4 plant, you can actually take a tour of it.

(I realize you were probably being sarcastic with your question but I figured I'd chime in anyway. The SC VPC is the only one we "mortals" can get inside!!)
