My car is about to hit 100K miles and I was curious to know what additional maintenance I should perform since I want to keep it for another 50K miles. I am up to date with all of the requirements on the i-Drive service screen. Appreciate any input!

Can you share with us How you have kept the car in such great shape. Were there any major problems that happened with your ownership?

If you haven't already replaced your radiator, overflow tank, and all associated hoses - it's time! Also the serpentine belt and tensioners should be replaced at 100-120K miles.

Thanks for the list! I just got my spark plugs installed (bosch iridium fusion) and so far they have been great! To be honest, I pretty much followed the service requirements on the i-Drive screen, manual, and recall notices. I would also change the filters my self (easy enough) after just about every oil change. I used to go to the dealership for years for service, but for the past year I've been going to a couple independent shops and they have been keeping me informed proactively of what to change such as the battery which I did just 8 months ago. I'm not sure if I could qualify this as a "major" problem but I did get the "Increased Emissions" come up on my i-Drive screen and the "Service Engine Soon" to appear on my dash. After checking the code with my reader it said "Thermostat" and the dealer also confirmed it after an inspection. After replacement the issue went away. It's been a remarkable experience so far.

Vanos filter? Am I missing something? I just took apart and cleaned my vanos and upgraded all of the o-rings with teflon rings and I did not find any filter. Upon my research prior to starting this project, I read nothing about a filter.

Nice and new!!!!

OP - I wouldn't try replacing any of the items mentioned unless necessary. Do them as they become an issue. You may not run into common failure issues that others do.Obviously spark plugs, filters etc are a must but doing radiator, expansion tank, MAS etc. Is not ideal unless this is your daily driver. In that case take care of the items that will impair driveability such as radiator. The reason I say this is because once you start moving hoses etc you are bound to break them and cause a bigger issue. IF you like to do all this stuff then you can add the Oil Separator (DISA, CCV, PRV) in there too.

I just rolled over 106k. Nothing but idrive maintenance. Still on OEM waterpump, thermostat, radiator. These e60's arent on the same level as previous e39's. I have had nothing but Honda like reliability. Im convinced not to do a ton of preventative maintenance like past bmw's thanks to a friend of mine who just traded in his 04 545i 6 speed with over 180k on it. It was in amazing shape. Nothing but idrive maintenance with no major repairs. Hopefully Ill have the same luck.

Sorry, the vanos filter only pertains to the inline 6 cyclinders not v8's...
