Love the Taconic. I take a nice Sunday drive up and back almost every Sunday morning. It alsways the guys in the Mercs that want to race.

Hey Fellas, how's about a Westchester meet?

The parking lot next to Finn Mccool's in White Plains, any other suggestions?

NYS Thruway, Taconic or the Sprain You can nail it!

Bronx River, Saw Mill, or Hutchinson River Parkway

Some parts are too twisty for anythying over 90mph

BTW i would venture to say ML55, CL500, S500 and SL500 are yours for the taking, dunno about a CL600, S600 or SL600 though.

There is a spot on the Bronx River Parkway - between White Plains and Hartsdale - with a tight little S curve. I have driven this strecth of road twice a day, 5 days a week for about 8 years. I have on more than one occaision taken E55's though the turns. I let them get in front of me, follow closley until I see the break lights, switch lanes, and blow by them. I have done this to many "faster" cars.

Fast is good, and the e60 is fast, but it is the handling that realy sets the car apart.

It is doubtful that the 545 will beat either the non-AMG S600 or SL600 (each has a 493hp, 590 lb-ft torque twin turbo v12). The 545 should get smoked by either of these big Mercs.

exactly what i was thinking. i mean, we can keep arguing that our bmws are better cars (because they are), but you cant really argue with twin turbo charged 6-litre V12.

It's easy to get carried away by winning a single race with a SL500. Of course, the SL65 is an AMG that outputs 604hp and 738 lb-ft of torque. Although it weighs about 700 lbs more than the M5, it has nearly double the torque of the M5. MB claims it does 0-60mph in 4.2 sec (while BMW claims the M5 does 0-60mph in 4.7 sec). There's an article in one of the magazines about the SL65 doing a quarter mile in the mid 11s. In any event, MB can argue that the SL65 blows the doors off the M5 (for about $100K more)....
