Is there a big difference?
Define big...
If u expect the 550i to leave the 545i for dead then no.

I'm curious...I'd like to think with the $$$ I forked over yes, but then again they're all so close. I mean isn't the 545 a 4.5ltr? The 550 is just a 4.8ltr....so technically the difference is about 0.3
And for a laugh: When asked what I drive I say 550, and I had one Porsche guy go, "like the aluminum one?!?!?!?!" Down boy...haha. Who's got THAT kind of money?

Gas mileage is worse on the 550i.
You have to pay gas guzzler tax on the 550i... but not on the 545i

. there is more torque at a lower rpm. may even result in better milage.

Most people would probably not feel a difference, unless you drive a 545 and 550 back to back or drag race them. If you're racing them both from 0-60, the 550 should finish about 1 car length ahead, assuming it is 0.1 sec faster to 60 mph.
Yeah I wouldn't want people confusing it with the 550 Maranello...

I cannot justify trading up as the x45 is still a great car/engine combo.
