Dinan mods typically don't void warranty.[quote name='mclc26' date='Aug 2 2005, 06:31 PM']
I was assured that just like the rest of Dinan's products, it WILL NOT void the warranty.

I'm pretty sure it DOES void the BMW warranty. You'll get a DINAN warranty instead!

Stream, just to avoid confusion - I had asked my dealer about trading in the 545 for the 550 and he recommended that I contact Dinan as their mods may be a cheaper way to get the hp/torque gain instead of paying the difference to get into the 550.? The dealer told me that he had heard that Dinan's software upgrade should boost performance(wrong).? When I spoke to Dinan I got the correct story from them...?
Now I just have to see what Dinan will offer and add up the cost + install costs of those mods to achieve the 35 HP & 30lb/ft of torque to be equivalent to the 550i and compare that to the $$ it will cost to upgrade the 545 to 550 and see which is the better move...
Stream, did Dinan give you any other future/current products' hp/torque gain and cost aside from the throttle body?? TIA...

Here's a quote from Dinan's website regarding warranty:
The installation of Dinan Performance Products and systems may affect the vehicle manufacturer?s new car limited warranty. The vehicle manufacturer?s new car limited warranty may not apply to modifications to a vehicle or the installation of any performance accessories or components attached to the vehicle which substantially alter the original engineering and/or operating specifications or which result in damage to other original vehicle manufacturer?s components.

I did a speedometer indicated 160 mph a while back and it got there pretty quickly. Everything is a bit twitchy at that speed but I am sure it will pull another twenty six mph.

I did it for about 60 seconds and I smelled a faint burning smell, but I did have the sunroof open.

Do you guys really think that you will notice the 35 HP & 30lb/ft of torque difference from the '45 to the'50? That's a just a bit over 10% and the effect of engine power increase on performance isn't linear, so I think it would be barely noticeable, if at all. You'd probably notice a bigger difference between driving the same car on hot day vs. a cool day. I'd have a hard time spending any money for that.
