I just upgraded my 530i to a 545 about a month ago, and am wondering if any other 545 owners have encountered an issue I'm having.

Every once in awhile, like once a week, when I'm at a stop sign and start to push on the gas lightly the car will jerk forward forcefully (violently) as if it's throwing itself into gear. The first time it happened I actually thought I had been rear-ended.

My first two weeks of ownership this never happened, but since I had the dealership install Sirius (and they updated the software) this has happened now 3 times. It is very inconsistent and doesn't happen often, but it is very annoying.

Yup this has been discussed before. I'll see if I can find the thread for you. the fix is "another" software upgrade... 16.1 or higher.

Thank you very much -- this is the problem exactly. I tried searching but didn't see this thread.

I'm so glad this isn't just me! The car drives awesomely 99% of the time but this slamming lurch is making me a nervous wreck.

Hey guys I am glad and not glad others have this problem, it is actually coming from the differential of the car, not the gearbox but the gearbox software is to blame i suppose.

It is so violent that it feels like your getting rear ended it scares the crap out of me all the time, when i cruise sometimes I get scared of this feeling at time.

I noticed that it happend with i feather the throttle, that means barely touch the as, it happend on a decline and only in slow moving situations.

the gearbox, differential and toque convertor are computer controled and something isnt timed properly.

My Mom has a Jaguar and her car has this issue but not even close to the severity of my BMW. Has the same ZF Gearbox

Once again another ZF marvel that doesnt work 100% just as everything else they throw into these cars.

My car just had the software donelast week, so far nothing yet but I know it will come back.

If this happens again I will eventually file a lemon law on this car, too many shop visits and only 5800 miles, come on this is not worth it anymore.
