Is the 545 the exact same car as the 530 except for the motor? I've never seen this question asked or answered. Anyone?

I believe the differences (besides the engine) between the 545 and the 530 are:

1. Exhaust tip (545 has a larger diameter and thicker wall).
2. Wheels
3. The front grill is chromed on the 545.

If there are any more differences that I missed, please share them.

The 545i has a heavier motor so there may be more of a nose heavy feeling/ less crisp turn-in. apart from that the steering is the same as the 6 cylinder models (on the e39 it was a re-circulating ball effort on the v8 models) and the suspension is also the same, so apart from feeling more urgent the 545i should feel like the 530i

Another difference: The brakes are a lot bigger.

jonboy: but I guess the V8 is put farther back in the engine room to maintain the 50/50 weight distribution..?

In the UK, the standard equipment levels are a fair bit different as well.

paasan

you're right, but i guess the car, being heavier, would feel less nimble/able to rapidly change direction
