My Ride: 2004 545i m5 wheels m tech front bumper

i have an oil leak on my 2004 545 its coming from right behind the altinator on the block i cant see it any ideas what is there that would be leaking and its not the valve covers

I'm not as familiar with the current V8, but on the 540i and 740i valve covers were notorious for failure. It's a DIY (if you're comfortable) and not that expensive.

Hi everyone, I would just like to say Thanks to all of you that have contributed to this forum, the information that you all share here has invaluable resource to me in understanding and maintaining my ride.
I'm having the same valve cover gasket problem with my 04' 545. I've been thinking about replacing my spark plugs at the same time as the VC gaskets. Has anyone done the valve cover gasket replacement, is this a fairly straight foreword job?
