Well before I catch crap, this was on an elevated highway outside of the city in no traffic...

I passed an E46 M3 getting on an onramp to the expressway tonight and he got behind me to left onramp to the express lanes... i gunned it to see what he would do, he stayed on my tail to a quick 120 and I was thinking maybe he just didnt want to try and pass me... so... we slow it down to about 65 and when we got out of a tiny pack of cars and the road opened up, he took off, i gunned it (i changed lanes so i wasnt behind him) he didnt pull on me 1 inch up to about 140. anyway, we slowed down, hit some traffic and he kept driving like an idiot, changing, cutting people off and i let him go. anyhow, my question is... is it 535 is comparable to an E46 M3 in straight line performance? or was there something wrong with his car

There may have been a serious lack of "courage"on his part and an over abundant supply of balls on your part.

No, I think your own supply of JB3 in your DNA is plenty to intimidate the timid.... Well done, sir.

I think the 535/550 are very close to the E46 M3 in terms of raw speed. The M will have an edge in the handling department but it'll be pretty close on highway runs.

Its about right... Theres nothing wrong with the E46 M3. the 535 is that fast. Take in consideration the weight... its not that much heavier if any and the x35 motor as tested by many on dynos puts out about 340hp at the crank... and the M3 is listed at 333hp.
