Thumbs up

I have never seen a 540i on the road nor here a member having it .. is it so new? Also, how does it compare with 306HP 535i?

Its not new... I think there was a member here from Australia who had a 540. the 535 will beat the 540 in any race.

i dont know the specs on european models but here in the states a 540i is a e39 model, not a e60.
so im sure the 535i would walk all over the 540i

Yeah .. I'm sure it would .. not mentioning the turbos can be reprogrammed and get +30HP at least.

I found it recently on a BMW International Website in 5-Series E60, it wasn't there one or two months ago, that's why I'm confused (maybe I overlooked it)

I think the reason you've not seen the 540i before is due to the changes to the e60 engine lineup that happened in late 2005. Prior to this changeover I believe the upper end of the lineup was 530i and 545i (excluding the M5, obviously). Post this changeover, the 530i became more powerful, the 535i was launched and the 540i and 550i were brought in.

There's more on this in the Information Section here.

also, the 535i is only available in north america and the 540i in the rest of the world.

Today 300 HP aren't enough to have a V8, simple : who can afford a 540i can get a 545/550 too .

Especially a 545i since you can get them cheaper than a new 520d nowadays...
