At low speeds, I notice a whining or chirping that I have assumed is caused by the turbos. I hear the sound until the engine and road noise become dominant.

I am trying to determine if this sound is inherent to the car.

Are you other 535i owners hearing a similar sound?

Lucky you!

L7 or Individual High End?

Some of those could "help".

A whine could be a trubine rubbing against the turbo housing? Do you see any smoke out the tail pipe? If you can get to the turbo you might want to see if you have any excessive shaft play or take it back to dealer and have them check out the turbos.

I had one on demo from the dealer for 3 days last week. I didn't hear any whining. The car only had 250 miles on it.

A whining? Is your wife or girlfriend in the car when you hear whining? If so, ask her to get out and then drive the car, the whining will be gone.

I test drove a 535i and heard the turbo whine. I have to admit my hearing is quite sensitive

I wanted an AWD but my dealer did not have any xi in stock, so I test drove the i's

I was considering the 535xi. However, after driving a 528i I found that it's power is sufficient for me and it did not have the whine. I have never owned a BMW. I owned Mercedes and Lexus, so the 528xi will be a good intro for me.

Last Saturday, I placed an order for a 528xi with the options I want

I have had had turbos before and am awaiting a 535 which landed today in NY ports. The turbos are spinning at 100,000 rpm, It would be normal to here some whine- even desirable.
I also ordered the light poplar wood, how do you like it?
