I leased my 08 535i as demo with 10k on the clock and I took it in for service @ 14k miles and my SA notice that my rear left is almost worn out he checked with sales dep if the tires were changed prior to my lease they said yes and he said there is no way your tire could be worn out after 4k of driving , I have dunlop rf that is almost out and they dont want to change it @ there expense and i don't burn rubber nor do any track driving so what should my concern be / with who ? dealer or BMWNA. thanks

Need more info. How was the right rear tire? There are manufacture dates on the tires listed as what week it was produced and what year, an original tire should be manufacturerd 6 mos-12 months before the car was produced. Was the left tire wear even across the tread, or was the inside or outside of the tread area more worn

I would definitely make some noise with the service manager. There's no way that a tire should be that worn off in 4K miles. Have them check the integrity of your suspension where the tire is. G/L

I found out about the TSB that indicates faulty dunlop RF tires however the DOT # on the tire are not the ones in the TSB and its like a year before the production of my car. Im going to take it on soon and see how it goes.
thanks for the input

Someone is talking shit.

If the lining on the rear left wheel is OK, the dealer leased you a car with lemon tires
(did you check when you took delivery?) or then you have burned it.

Most likely, as a demo car it is, the tire was burned before, but how do you prove it.

But I'm sure a jury would be on your side!

After the court, have this fucking dealer to change all the tires to non RF's!

PS: Let us all know the dealers name!

Ridiculous!! HAve them replace it. There is no way that a tire wears out in 4k miles with good suspension and responsible driving. They leased it to you with a bum tire. Don't be surprised if one of the employees changed the tire out prior to delivery and either sold it or used it on their own vehicle. I dont mean to sound so cynical but I have seen that happen before and the customer winds up getting screwed. If the daler fails to replace the tire, call BMW NA and raise hell. They would be dumb to ruin their relationship with you over a $300 tire.

I may have missed it in the post but 10,000 miles prelease + 4 post lease adds up to 14,000 miles on the tire - not 4,000.

OP also state that the dealer said the tires were changed out prior to his lease. That means supposedly 4000 miles on the current tires

I had the similar but not exact sitution and worked a deal with the dealer with BMWNA agreement to split the cost, I purchesed my car with 6000 miles and the front were cupped at about 15000 miles.

The SA said he checked with the sales department and they reviewed CPO checklist and they claim that tires have been changed prior to my lease. I put 4700 miles so far
