Any board members test their 545i against the 535i in acceleration tests? I don't take much account of the published numbers because BMW has cars to sell, and they want to sell the more expensive one...

Uh, you mean 530i don't you? Please take account of the published numbers. They tell the same story as indepenent tests done by magazines etc. Effective last month the new 530i is being built. Wait and see those numbers. They will be closer to the 545i until September when it will be replaced by the 550i

The gap between 530i and 545i should be pretty far. It will be around 1.5 seconds difference in 0-100km/h..

...oh and as far as acceleration is concerned, from my test driving experience with the 530i, they were not even close. The 530i has more than adequate acceleration. The 545i is stupid quick!

The new motor should close the gap some but I think there'll still be a significant difference.

I've had a 530 automatic for the last year and just picked up (ED) a 545 stick and can tell you the 545 is a monster!

I thought the 530 was pretty nippy but the 545 is like ... a rocket. In second gear put the pedal to the metal and YEEEEHA!
