Okay, whats the latest on the N54 situation?

I'm asking because I currently have my car in for the battery connector recall and I also complained about shaking when idling after start (no engine light or IDrive message). I just bought the car last week (2010 CPO 27k miles) and I checked the service history and the latest SIB's applied were:

3/31/11 => N54 HDP, B13 13 10
3/31/11 => N54 Programming HDP, B13 09 10

The dealer told me they could replicate the problem and that they talked to BMW and were instructed to apply new programming.

Whats the latest SIB and programming? Has anyone else got a software update recently?

Thanks in advance.

Oh and the idle is super smooth now, and power is good under load so hopefully this fixed everything!

My 08 535 had the recall done and then in June this year had a Vanos issue. Just had acceleration hesitation they did plugs, a coil and carbon on valves. At almost 50,000 miles the car runs great and gets good mpg but it sure needs a lot of maintenance.

Does anyone else have/had the problem with carbon on the valves?

Don't understand how car should have all these problems?

Get used to it...it'll be regular occurrence and regular maintenance item with the N54 and all direct injection engines without a secondary fuel injector spraying the backs of the intake valves (a-la Lexus IS350). Search the Audi boards to see how horrible it can get...

To say that Audi is worse is not much of answer. A $50,000 car should not have these problems! The fact that Lexus addressed the issue in their design only underlines the fact that it is a defect.

Unfortunately your $50,000 car does have this problem and it is a cost you'll have to bear in terms of maintenance.

A $50k car shouldn't have the potential of bad fuel injectors or fuel pumps (or in my case, possible bad valve stem seals/guides) to this degree either, but lucky you...
