Engine seems to be idling somewhat rougher than before; sounds sort of like diesel.
Dealer said there are no faults stored, but the ethanol content is 15%.
There is no long crank, or any performance issues.
Is it normal or an indication of future pump / injector problem?

it could be the high pressure fuel pump.

The known issues include noise after a software update and the fuel pump. I got a letter from BMW saying that they are aware of the fuel pump issue and are increasing the warranty on that part to 100,000 Miles and 10 years.

My car is a July 2007 build, maybe not all cars have a problem or maybe you didn't get it yet.
I have not had any problem with my pump.

07 and 08 MY cars, even though 09 and 10 cars are still having the issue.

Took about a month after the press release as made public for my letter to show up.

Maybe slightly, but not much. But I've had a BMW head tech look at it and he said this is not the symptom of any impending problems and that direct injection engines sound like this when there is ethanol present in the fuel; he told me to keep using Shell, although he mentioned that not even all Shell stations are carrying the same quality of gas. Anyway, so far, I've had no issues.
