Hey Everyone,

I ordered a 535i from my BMW dealer on March 2nd. The car went into production and was shipped on the first week of April. The car arrived on the VPC on April 10th.

I called the sales person on the 9th and was told that the car would probably leave the VPC around the 10th or 11th and the car should arrive at the dealer after the 14th of April and I would receive a call when the car arrived. Well by April 18th I still haven't heard anything so I called up the sales person. Here's the fishy part:

As it turned out, the vehicle was damaged during shipping. I was told: "The bumper was scratched, no big deal it happens every now and then". I figured one week should be ample time for the bumper to be replaced.
If the vehicle entered port on the 10th of April. Today is April 24th and the vehicle still has not been shipped out. Do you guys think it's more then just a "scratch" on the bumper? I just feel that it shouldn't take more then a few business days to have the bumper repaired.

I have a $500 deposit on the vehicle and the dealer gave me a loaner car to drive. I am just afraid that the car has more problems then just a "scratch" on the bumper. Maybe something mechanical.

What do you guys think?

Thanks for reading.

It happens. There's no point in taking your business elsewhere, unless you want to wait another 3 months. Instead, I would tell them you want some goodies thrown your way for this mishap. You'll have your car shortly...and when you do, take pix and post them!

i think you just need to do a visual inspection, just make sure the radiator support is not bent, but bmw should take this into consideration when delievering your vehicle. It should be problem free. it make take couple of days to repair the scratch, because your car must be in line for repair. At least you can get some goodies / accessories for the mishap... get all the goodies you can get

Minor damages are very common during shipping... A lot of us, including me have visited the VDC before, I personally have been there twice on tour and seen how cars go through there. It should be ok, if its heavily damanged the car will not be shipped to you. Only minor damages are repaired and shipped off to the customer. I would not worry too much about it. But like said do a GOOOD visual inspection when you pick up the car and see if you can negotiate some freebies from the dealer.

Just to add to what other members have said, the fact that the dealership is letting you use a loaner all this time speaks very well of them. Enjoy that loaner, soon you'll get your hands on your 535i

My Experience of VPC is very positive. What they do is goverened by BMW and BMWNA and not any dealer. I dinged my RF wheel in Florence during ED. Yes it was delayed by a few days at VPC and reason was that they replaced the wheel.

You know sometimes we get the same thing about a customer's car, once it took them over a month to repair the car and get it shipped over to us. It was crazy, customer calling every day, sales person going nuts trying to grill on VPC, there's no use. VPC is really useless and most of the time they're not on schedule with what our information says. Just hope for the best.
