Hi,
we now have snow up here in Finland, and I'm finding my 535d gives me rubish traction in snow/ice. It has Dunlop Wintersport SPP (I think) RFT friction tyres.
What do You think, will a new set of tires get the traction to acceptable levels (I know it's no 4x4), or should I give up and get a RangeRover or new X5?
What tyres would You recomend for Nordic snow-conditions?
bw, Staffan

up in Finland you should get Nokian Hakka (http://www.nokiantyres.com/) or Gislaved softfrost - those are for the real winter.
nokian are the best winter tyres i ever had
Nokian now is owned by bridgestones. gislaved owned by continental

i am native of the region close to finnland (similar driving conditions) - have tried many different models and makers. winter tyres suitable to mild western europe climate helps little in the nordic conditions ... and on the contrary - nordic winter tyres are too soft for mild western/south europe winters. many tyre models got fancy names, but it does not help on the road.
nokian Rsi - is the new super tyre, excelent in nordic conditions

Has anyone noticed big increases in traction from a particular set of tyres?

I would have thought that when the winter really bites up there you should be looking to studded tyres.

in Southern Finland, if You have a 4x4, You can usually make do quite nicely with friction-tyres. i had fictions on my Audi A4 a couple of years ago with no probs.
To all You nordic/northern North America drivers out there; have You had any
traction-problems with studdeds?
