Yeah, didn't you hear? It's going to get 1,000Nm from the upgrade and make the current 535d totally obsolete...

Seriously, the lightened block will be here soon...

I think the only problem is this:

You buy a car and 6 months later they will have a new model to replace it.

It's getting worse than Honda and Toyota...

I got mine 1st June 2004, and now they are replacing the engine ? I speak for my self but i don't like it at all !!!

It's the 3rd change in the 3.0d engine in two years.

I have one 730d - 2002 - with the 3.0d (218 HP) and a 530d - 2004 - with the 3.0d but with particle filter and now the new version with 231 HP ??? Where does it stops ??

A friend of mine got the information from Munich that the 535d new engine is ready, they are only waiting for the competition .....

I miss the days i got a E34, 525 tds, (1991) and a E39, 525d (2001) and there weren't any changes for 4 full years.....

The lightened crankcase is a production upgrade, not a performance one but the overall car weight will go down a little (not enough to notice imho)

most buyers (who don't read these boards) will not know any better.

That is what the is for... Chill

One thing with 'technology' is that it often changes fast and when you least expect it... The dealer told me that the SPORT versions wouldn't be out for ages and that the SE was the best option...
