Can anyone help? I have an intermittent problem with loss of power at low revs (below 3000). When it happens the car won't pick up until gearbox shifts down and revs go over 3000. I had all vacuum hoses replaced which seemed to help but it still happens from time to time and is becoming more frequent. Yesterday for about 2 mins I even lost power at high revs. I have no warning lights on so local garages are at a loss as to what's up.

You probably have a vacuum leak. The other likely candidate is a faulty pressure converter or two. There are something like 7 vacuum pressure converters or valves and if they leak you lose vacuum.
Pressure Converters are made by Pierburg and can be sourced for around £40 each. From BMW they are more like £120 each.
The Pressure Converters and Electrically Controlled Valves can be tested with a hand vacuum pump. It's a bit fiddly to gain access to some though. Really to gain access to all hoses and all the vacuum system you need to remove the intake manifold.
