I checked my oil the other day for the first time after 14k miles, could hardly pull the dip stick out, seemed welded in! Yes I know there will be shock horror amongst some of you reading this, but the car is under warranty and I'm good at denying all knowledge! Anyway it was just on the min. mark so I topped it up. I know diesels do consume oil but does this consumption sound about right?

I put a litre in at just over 7K and another at just over 15K.

I do probably 1/3 rd motorway and 2/3 rds town driving.

Oil change indicator came on at 19.5K.

You should expect a new car to use a bit of oil in the first 7000km, then it should use less.

Possibly a naive question but what oil do you top up with? What's OEM in a 530d? I would guess Castrol RS, but which viscosity?

The petrol versions do not have dipsticks and their oil levels can be checked via the idrive. The Diesels however do still have dipsticks
