cant say Ive ever had to top mine up between services, but Id imagine it would be 0-40W diesel grade Mobil 1 or similar?

My Ride: 535d Sport, carbon black, media pack, visibility pack, grey leather, heated seats, sun protection glass, voice control, Eibach ProKit, 19" 166 style wheels, e-maps ECU remap to 325hp and 640NM, top speed limiter removed
Any oil on the below list is approved by BMW and fine in your car. All modern fully synthetics mix perfectly fine, even those of slightly different viscosities.
