Geesh I never got that economy from my 320d let alone my 530 ![Tongue](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/tongue.gif)
I have stabilised the economy at 40mpg which is not bad, every day I do a short 6 mile trip to drop off the daughter at Nursery and then 6 miles back again, twice a day, very typical of the majority of the journeys my car does sadly........given the circumstances im fairly happy with 40mpg.
I managed 42mpg average on the way back from Birmingham where I bought the car, that was in heavy late afternoon traffic as well over a 2.5hr trip

The 120d is the same, short journeys muller the economy. Id reckon 20 miles for the engine to get to a stage where its at its optimum working temperature.

That is good mpg. I am showing 30.7mpg but it is mostly town stuff the odd run to Aberdeen 100mile "A" road round trip and quite a bit of blasting around.

im keeping this car totally standard.
the older 530 has had everything thrown at it, and is great fun, i dont want to play around with something so similar (inherited the 530d from a relitive and it was povity spec, hence retro fitting everything.)

It seems to me that the mpg difference between the 535d and 530d is very small (even compared to the 525d). so for the extra performance the 535d looks so much better. The 520d does kill it on mpg but the performance has a massive difference.
anyway, it's good to hear all the mpg figures for the 535d.

I've got a 525d and it chews fuel. I get 25MPG. The throttle pedal seems to be very sensitive just touch it and the autobox will change up normally give it even a tiny bit of right foot and it wants to behave as if you've got the pedal mashed into the floor.
Back to the dealer.

I have an LCI 525d (3.0d engine) with a manual gearbox - had it from new ans it's now covered 34k miles. A few weeks ago I did a 250 mile motorway journey, and as I was in no hurry I drove the entire journey between 55 - 60 mph. The car returned 63 mpg - AMAZING.
In reality, it's difficult to maintain this kind of speed I know, but as a comparison, at a constant 70 mph I usually get around 55 - 56 mpg over a long distance, compared to around 50 mpg at a constant 80 mph, and high 40's (47 - 49 mpg) at 80+. Mixed driving using returns between 43 - 45 mpg. Constant urban is around 38 - 42mpg. I never see below 38 mpg!
Fantastic car - great blend of performance (if not up to the level of the 530d's & 535d's) vrs economy - love it!
I currently have the use of a 318d courtesy car as my car is in the Bodyshop having some work done. I'm only managing to average about 48 mpg - which seems really poor by comparison.

Yee ha.....
Just got back from our trip to london, wife, boot full of crap for the baby, plus baby and myself onboard, we did a steady 80 for the 130 mile trip, averaged 47mpg which im well impressed with. We did a sllightly worse 45.5mpg on the way back but that was via Tower Bridge and central london traffic route on the way home![Smile](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/smile.gif)
Now im seriously impressed with this car, performance and economy is astounding even compared with my 320d............
