Just clocked 40k in my LCI car, and its come back from BMW after an oil change and inspection service. I filled the car up last night with Shell V Power and the range indicator gave me over 690 miles after 10 miles of driving. With all this winter driving, lights on and air con all the time Im very impressed. If the range indicator proves correct, it would be about 46mpg in a ~350bhp car!:-)

very impressive but im sure some sitting in traffic will soon knock that down. I see 55mpg on steady cruising then get into town and its soon down to 28-35mpg

The trip computer was reset about 10k miles ago and it settled at 39.2mpg (50 mph avg) and hasnt changed since (i think its working!), I get about 600-620 from a tankful, which makes sense. Thats with my commute M42/M5/M6/M54 mornings and country roads in the evening. Stop start really does burn the juice, no matter how gentle braking and using the momentum to minimise accelerating;-)

Geesh I never got that economy from my 320d let alone my 530

I have stabilised the economy at 40mpg which is not bad, every day I do a short 6 mile trip to drop off the daughter at Nursery and then 6 miles back again, twice a day, very typical of the majority of the journeys my car does sadly........given the circumstances im fairly happy with 40mpg.

I managed 42mpg average on the way back from Birmingham where I bought the car, that was in heavy late afternoon traffic as well over a 2.5hr trip

They do the performance diesel juice as well now IIRC......

Pee's me off a little your statement Dave lol.....

I had the option of a 535d M-Sport for the same money I paid for this car....I had my sensible head on and decided to get the 530d becuase it would probably be a little better on fuel ( after hearing how the twin turbo sucks the juice if you gun it ! ), and the lesser insurance cost ( probably negligible in real terms at my age ), I now wonder if I bought the right car lol, only saving grace is that I am loving my 530d so maybe I dont fully appreciate what im potentially missing

Reset the trip before I left from friends da'an sarf and headed up the M40, drove at a steady 65mph with the odd blast to o/take and I was truel shocked.

I managed 57.6 for a while yesterday - over 120 odd miles I finished at 56.3, of which 10% was in and out of the towns at busy periods.

Now I know that the BC can be 5-10% or so out, so even then, 52 odd MPG from a 3.0l Auto isn't bad!!!! And it was soooo quiet and refined all the way home...

As the miles pile, it gets better and better. What a car!

BTW - FWIW, the performance fuels have been tested to death by mag's etc, and most say they make no difference!! It's a placebo...

I wish I got to go on longer motorway trips more often... The car mainly just does short country runs and I'm currently running at 28.9 mpg Maybe it's the wifes fault Or maybe I'm enjoying the 535d just a little too much...

get your 530d tuned mark, it will push the torque up to more than that of the 535d, then you can have best of both worlds.
