I tried not to go over 3000-3500 rpm, but sincerely it was very difficult.

Yeah. me too.
But you're way past legal speeds doing 3500.
So breaking in is not that difficult

OK - there are many views on this subject and quite a few threads eleswhere. The problem is that with such a high geared and torquey car, you are in danger of UNDER revving it during the running in period. IT IS ESSENTIAL to give it some revs (over 3,500) every now and then while the rings bed in. Don't sit at 60mph for hours on end. I really don't think it is possible to cane this engine too much during the running in process.

As has already been said, with the diesel, at 3000-3500 rpm you are already really moving at great pace to enjoy the ride thoroughly without longing too much for the breakin period to be over.

What's even more important is to make sure that you have the engine oil up to temperature before stressing the engine (too low or too high revs) which takes longer than you think.

In my old M3 which had an oil temp guage it took a good 15 to 20.
minutes of driving to get the oil temp up to operating temp. in our climate. In your climate now it would take a lot longer.

Anyway enjoy your ride, wish we could get the 535D here!!!
