Thumbs down

Who's heard of this then?!?

---------
The all-new BMW 535d offers a first for a BMW diesel car engine ? two-stage turbocharging. It delivers a maximum output of 272 bhp and, more importantly, 560 Nm (413 lb ft) torque at 2,000 rpm, with 500 Nm available at just 1,500 rpm. This propels the new BMW 535d from zero to 60 mph in just 6.3 seconds and on to a top speed electronically limited to 155mph.

Two-stage turbocharging resolves the conflict of ?turbo lag? when accelerating hard at low engine speed and increases the availability of power at higher engine revs. The first turbocharger provides an almost instant kick of turbo pressure at low engine speeds while the second turbocharger cuts in at higher engine speeds to boost power throughout the higher rev range. The new turbo layout also extends the engine rev range by 500 rpm over the BMW 530d, to a maximum of 4,800 rpm.

Even with such performance, exhaust emissions are not compromised, since the 535d has a particulate filter and is fully compliant with EU4 regulations.

I just feel disappointment - that the 530d I'm waiting for is outdated already..

Talking

If they do that, what about the 540d V8 diesel?
And even if they will do that not now for sure, they will wait for the new Mercedes E and S to be launched, and then they will answer that. Have you checked the power of the new 525d? The same as in the E270 Cdi... i think we will have to wait a little more fore that 535d.

There will be no 540D - see the other thread!
The engine is to heavy for the 5 series.

If you check the link to bmw gb there is no 535d. The latest new model is the 525d. I seriously doubt the authenticity of this article

I have recieved an official BMW newsletter stating that the 535d should be launched at the end of the year. The price is still not finalized!

I will stay with my 530d with the ACS chip tuning.
The 535d will be out of range here in Portugal, expensive....
