Take the V8 and consider it can do 400-500k kilometers . The supercharge it, tune it at 550 HP . Do you think it would break in 50k km ?
Obviously it would last 200k km at least .

3/4 of the forum with 545i/550i is faster than your remapped 535d .
If one day I will pass through Belgium we'll see, eh ?
21s dear Pattle, twentyone : from 9s (with powerbraking = cheat) to 31s (206-207 kmh, real 200 kmh) .
Let me some days and you'll see a real 18s (0 to 207 kmh of speedo - edit : secret menu to verify it, there is a submenu with the real speed and my car goes @200 kmh with the speedo at 207)
Hey buddy, do you think to be so smart and we so stupid ?
Andy's 545i, stock as factory, 18.5 seconds from 0 to (real) 200 with no 'powerbrake' that allow you to gain 1 second :
http://snipurl.com/291co
So now pls sit, be calm and understand you don't have 370 HP (and neither 330) and that the 535d is not fast as you think .
Stock 545i : 17s
Remapped 535d : 21s

If you'll ever race this 535d you'll get smoked....
545i has 450 nm torque and this one 718 Nm....
545i has 333 hp and this one 370 hp....
Tell me why your 545i would be faster????? just because your badge is "bigger"
Do you think you have the top of the world with your 545i??
Sorry but I think you have kind of an "air" (sorry to say but I think there are more people on this forum who share my thoughts....)

Sx..
Ok, if this summer I will chance to pass near Belgium I will send him a PM.
And maybe a PM to you too to invite you as witness.
An F1 has for sure less than 718 Nm . So this 535d is fast than an F1 ?
545i has 333 hp and this one 370 hp....
a) Tell me why your 545i would be faster?????
b) just because your badge is "bigger"
b) just because your badge is "bigger"
a) Because I have *A LOT* of WHP more compared to that 535d (the steptronic, alone, robs 15 HP more than the manual/SMG)
b) Exactly : bigger engine, more HP and your torque is useful only for the tyre vendor .
A friend of mine, with a remapped E400 CDI (V8 biturbo), thought to be fast due to the story of the torque, when I just picked up from the dealer : can I give you his email address ?
After 3 years (running in and mods), we'll have to try again .

17 < 21
or
21 > 17
Can You and "more people on this forum" understand this ?
The only possibility you have is proving 17 is bigger than 21
Here we use to say "maths is not an opinion"
Ah, let me add that the poor remapped 535d is capable of only 270-275 kmh against 285 (at least) of a stock 545i .
(tired of the slow 535d story : sorry guys, you need a remapped 545d and *THEN* we will begin to discuss if it would be faster than a 545i with some mods)
EDIT :
I can give you the nickname of a remapped (DMS) 535d owner who tried mine and said that the V8 is another world.

E400 cdi has 260 hp.... hope for you you where faster (260 hp or 370 makes a big difference...)

Would like to see it in person.... still don't believe that a 545i is faster...
Would you be so kind to explain us why this 650i :
with 367 HP from factory, starting with DSC on (you can see it spinning) and without acceleration assist (LC) does 18s from 0 to real 200 kmh (205-207 of speedo) and your favourite 535d, with 370 HP, needs 21 seconds, with powerbraking ?
That 650i, starting well, is capable of SEVENTEEN seconds from 0 to real 200 (the M3 E92 does 16s) . And for sure it isn't tuned in any way .
Now consider that you can gain 30 HP from that 650i with exhaust, catalysts, remap, air filterbla bla .. And very likely it would be capable of 16s as the M3 .
Diesel users have to accept the truth .
*A LOT* yeah right....
a) 15 from difference of transmission
b) obviously those 370 HP are false, otherwise you have to explain us why that 535d is slower than a stock 545i (as posted video showed), so more and more HP from the engine
c) 545i is lighter than preLCI 535d, about 100 Kgs
E400 cdi has 260 hp.... hope for you you where faster (260 hp or 370 makes a big difference...)
I said "Remapped E400 CDI" (V8 biturbo and not sequential turbos) : a 535d can gain 100 HP (bwaaaa!) and a Mercedes not ?
I'd like to talk to that member....

Hey guys what is this? I have a stock 535d and it is fast, no question but it is not the top. I test drove a Dodge Magnum (Chrysler 300c) with 5,7 hemi, was amazed about the quick response the petrol engine gave. Don't think it beat the acceleration but for sure, if you compare short acc. times the petrol do have the advantage that it is ignited, fired up! While the diesel need some fragment of rev to compress.....
But isn't this fight about a diesel beating petrol? That can't be done right? When do we see top fuel dragsters built on diesel engines?
One thing is wrong though, and that is to compare top speed, for sure it has to do with hp, but both these cars have that for sure, even stock. Though it comes to engine revs and gear layout. Even if the gearboxes are the same (don't know, wouldn't think so) the 535d hits red at 5500 rpm (normal diesel engine 4000-4500) and the V8 7000? That?s the uneven fight, have absolutely nothing to do with engine size or hp in this comparison.

ohohoh, one more thing, I can bet your 545i with only 60hp! Even my 240kg cruiser beats your 2000kg living room
0,25hp/kg compared to 0,17hp/kg (which actually is what you said in the F1 example)

I agree with you, chrisod, but some 535d users sometimes exagerate about his 3.0d and start to say "It's faster than the V8", "It sounds like a V8" (this is even more funny), "With my remapped 535d I can declare war to the Middle East", etc.
To say the truth we would have to say that 0-200 times from factory are : preLCI 535d 24.5s, 545i 19s, 550i 18s, M3 E92 16s, M5 15s, F430 13s, F599 12s .
My conclusion is the 535d is very fast to be a diesel, this is true, but .. Calm when you compare with V8 .

(otherwise you should be so kind to explain why they are so fast on the straight line but so slow on bends and your 60 HP bike 'bet' an E60 only from 0 to 100)
1600 Kg living room, please: it's not a TT 3.0d E61
