Had a rough week. lost oil from front diff after driving car home from the tire shop on Monday. Shop will cover replacement and labor to fix it but according to mY STEALERSHIP the AWD must never have different size wheels on front and back. I bought sum m6 reps with 19x9.5 and 19x8.5 with 265/40 and 245/35. Need all AWD experts and help. I am out of a car for a week but not paying anything out of pocket which is okay but what did the tire place do wrong coz i know the sizes should be okay. Do i need spacers or anything else. Offests were 38 and 40 so wheels fit fine or so i thought.

must never? that's just what they have to say.

i'm pretty sure that having different sized wheels isn't going to screw up your front diff unless the wheels are hitting it.

you need to have the same tire overall diameter. do a search on how to calculate tire sizes.

AFAIK the tire size should be 245/35 & 275/30 your tire size kinda weird...

But in any rate.. have your stealer verify OEM style 124 as that kind listed as staggered (or X3/X5 setup).

Anyway, I see no relation even w/ wrong tire size & lost oil from front diff.

when I had my e46 xi I looked into staggered as well and decided against it because there seemed to be mixed opinions on staggered setups damaging diff's. However during my research I did find out that vehicles such as x5's came with a oem staggered option so I don't think the staggered setup is your culprit unless for some reason the staggered is ok for x5 but not for e60 xi but I believe they are the same drivetrain.
