I have a 530i E60, only issue is occasionally the music will cut out for a few seconds, and continue again. I have found if it happens within the first 10 minutes of the drive, it will happen for the entirety of my drive. (Intermittently Cutting out) But if it doesn't happen in the first 10 minutes, it wont occur at all.
I usually drive with my LCD screen blanked so it is not emitting light. Although i have found during these cut outs of my music, on the LCD screen a bar will appear at the bottom, with the following - Audio AUX x:xxPM/AM xx.xx.2020 (this bar usually is at the bottom when the screen is not 'asleep'.)
This is very frustrating, especially since i regularly drive hours on end.
Any advice or thoughts are highly appreciated.

My e60 radio does cut out as well but i notice it's when I'm using satellite radio, I'm guessing it's just losing the signal. However funny I also drive with the screen blank and when the radio cuts out the banner across the bottom displays time or some other info. I know this doesn't help but at least your not alone. 🤔

You could just have a failing module(s). Buy a BMW code reader.
