530i hard to start and keeps stalling out
 

I am having a problem getting my '06 ' 530i to run at idle after replacing valve cover gasket and also the oil filter housing gasket ,ran good prior to doing the gaskets now I get an error code on my code reader saying PO 341 Camshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Range / Performance Bank 1 or Single Sensor I have done replace d both sensors with new ones car will not idle without my foot on accelerator and it stalls out when running I can feel a slight misfire can anyone offer some help with this problem ?

Try resetting the adaptations on the valvetronic motor.

I had very similar symptoms and swapped coils around, new plugs, new eccentric shaft sensor and new valve cover gasket to still have the symptoms persist. After struggling with the idea of selling the car cause it was becoming unreliable I found that the breather valve/diaphragm on top of the valve cover fails and causes similar issues. I had to cut out the original breather valve and installed a new one. The part can be found online for around $25 - $40. After about two days of having the installed the new valve the check engine light cleared, the idle is smooth as butter and overall the car feels healthy again. I will highly recommend looking into this and considering this route.

now I see what you are talking about longms, the valve is at the back of the valve cover that the crankcase vent hose connects to, was it hard to cut out ?

I had to cut it out with a dremmel and did so as if you were cutting "the pie" into four pieces. I then used a heat gun to soften the plastic and uses a comination of flathead screwdrivers and vice grips to pull the plastic off. It is plastic welded in place so you will have to use the vice grips to pull the "neck" of the valve off of the outer diameter of the valve cover. There is a youtube video that I referenced and I will try to find it. Don't get me wrong, this is SUPER intimidating thinking about using a dremmel on the valve cover but it was not hard and took about an hour to complete. I used grey RTV to seal the new valve onto the valve cover.

This is not an N52 motor but the procedure is still the same. Just in a more PITA location!!! LOL. This guys goes on to replace the entire valve cover but my issues were completely resolved after doing this repair.

Measure your crankcase vacuum at oil filler with a magnehelic gage or a slack tube manometer. Should be ~4-6" water.
