I have to agree with you, the 530i seems like the better choice, but ONLY because of the miles! In either case, you MUST have a warranty on the car, these cars are VERY expensive to repair! Good luck with your choice and enjoy the forums!!

Hey guys so I'm in the market for a 5 series E60. My budget would allow for a 2004 or 2005 - 530i with about 30k miles or a 545i with about 60k miles. I'm leaning towards the 530i with less miles - thoughts?
I just went through this same buying decision and ended up buying the 545i with 65K miles on it. I don't regret it at all because I love the V-8. It's the right engine for that car, IMO. These cars don't blink an eye at 70K. My e39 just sold with 87K miles on it and it doesn't bat an eye when I jump on it.

Best thing to do is find a CPO (or a former CPO) with 60K on it. Essentially, BMW will have owned the car it's entire life.

Depends on what your goals are, really. Me, I buy these cars used and keep them two years so whether they have 40K and end up with 65K or already have 65K and end up at 90K makes no difference to me.

...I do agree on the warranty, though.
