231PS 530d without question! The 525d is the 'old' design block and should be avoided right now as it's about to be upgraded. (To a 3 litre light-block)

245km/h sounds like wishful thinking to me but top speed is not really that important - is it?

I'd prefer 530d.
Fuel consumption is lower, noise is lower, power feels much stronger on the highways.

3 L if money does not count, that beast is able to be juiced for 272 hp now, so you saved a 12.000 on the long run no need for 535d but that is able 2 be 350hp, so may be yes

Well i think you shouldn't look for the top speed, but more to fuel economy, acceleration is better,...

Exactly what I have done to mine Tested a 525D and it felt nothing like the 231 hp 530

Get the 530d no question (271hp / 600Nm re-map only cost ?350)

Theres no real comparison, The newest 530D is a better car in all respects. I would definetly go for the neweset 530D. If your comparing the old 530D to the 525D I think I would still day 530D. The same consumption and emmisions yet more power. However I have to say the 525D seems more happy to rev and quieter than the old 530D.

I have also found that the 525d is more quieter and smoother than the old 530d.
