Thumbs up

We just hit the rev limiter at 4000rpm in 6th gear in a remapped 530d. Unfortunately I did not have a GPS with me, so isn't it possible to know because of the limiter? Eg it's theoretical top speed? The HUD/speedo stops at 260kmh

Determine the speed in 6th gear at 2000RPM and double it

Sydnay Australia: 70kmh / 1000rpm in 6th gear in a 530d. That's 43mph. Mathematically that makes it around 280kmh or 172mph. Of course, the experts will tell you that other factors come into play: tyre dimensions change at high speed, wind resistance works against you, and so on.

Can I ask where you were at the time?

Don't forget the standard over-reading of the speedometer. When I hit the speed-limiter in my car (set for 155mph) the speedo shows 160mph/261kmh. Did you get the speed limiter disabled? Or perhaps they didn't fit one to the 530d. I think sometimes they don't bother fitting one if a car isn't capable of going past that speed anyway (without a remap).

my 3.0d 231hp never got over 250km/h on the speedometer ... how much hp does a 530d (231hp) version after a dpf removal and a remap ? it`s safe to do a remap with 180 000 km on board ? will the turbo suffer ?

normally, the stock machine drive at 248 km/h. Now, it probably more than 260 km/h. I will be try in a few days

It's a 2008 530d @ 296hp/625nm (dyno plot is somewhere in the Mod section) and it has been delimited. Tyre size does matters but it's all within 1~3% of OEM.

We were on an abandoned part of the freeway with 0 cars on it so it was safe (well... for others). I am well aware of the dangers.

I'll try again with a GPS then.

Fastest I've done in my 550 so far is 140 mph, but I know I had plenty of power left. I heard the M5 can take a family of 4 or 5 to 200 mph (is that actually true??) but what is the expected top speed of the 550?
Not that I would take here there I'd just like to know.

Mine topped out at 157 MPH with a tuning box!!! i would say after looking at mine you should be able to clock 170!!
