Folks,

I hate to lift the lid on this topic one more time but I still don't get it!

heres the situation

I'm just about to place an order for a 530D,I will be ordering Logic7 thanks to some great input from the forum but what is the real deal with MP3 compatability and will it work with the CD changer? If it doesn't I may forget the changer and wait for I-POD/E60 stuff to happen

AFAIK:
1) The forum info implies that MP3 reading will be available with a future release of I-Drive , but is this the dash drive and/or the cd changer?

2)BMW sales guy tells me it works now but only If I buy the Professional radio option for an extra ?200 (I'm in the UK). Business RDS is the standard UK radio. I don't think anyone has this working right?

3) There is reference on the forum to some press release confirming future MP3 compatability but I can't find this to show to my salesman.

4) There is (apparently) mention of the MP3 compatability in the users manual. Is this true..I don't have one yet becuase I haven't got the car

thanks all

The Professional Radio (at the moment) DOES NOT support MP3.

The manual does refer to MP3 as does the E60 brochure.

I have taken up with BMWGB and to date had no response.

Does anybody think it is not the actual playing of the MP3 , but the display on the screen of folders and tracks within folders and its associated navigation. For a CD and Radio it is simple, but the MP3 must be more difficult to diplay

whihr, who did you speak to? I have asked BMW GB a few questions lately and they always respond via email within 48hrs quite impressed really.

In one recent case I got a detailed letter through the post which was even better.

I just email any questions to customer.service@bmw.co.uk. I think the "cheif guy" for GB customer services is called Richard Price, so you could always call BMW GB and ask to speak to him directly, a reasonable guess on bmw GB's email address formats would be firstname.surname@bmw.co.uk so you could always try that

Difficult to say steve545, the GB owners manual has screenshots of mp3 in operation, which makes it all the more annoying :bashwall:
