530d Black Smoke

My 2005 E60 530d gives a lot of black smoke. It is already done 90,000 KM. I already changed the high pressure pump and breather valve. I even pulled out the HARTGE chip that I installed 1 year ago?
My mechanic told me the Air Mass Flow meter sensor has high resistance almost to upper spec limit and need to be changed? This give kinda rich mixture cause the black smoke. Can we just clean it rather than change.
Please share you comments

what about the particle filter in the exhaust? This could be blocked or saturated.

particulate filter? How to check?
I am suprise to know this is rare cases that none of the diesel member encountered this problem. Is that true.
I am a bit resistance when the mechanic asked me to change the MAF. The two components that I have changed based on his advise did not turn out positive.
Really need to know your experience

You should have a particle filter on your 2005 car - it was made standard on UK 530d's in early 2004. If you have straight out exhaust pipes, rather than downturned ones, then you have particle filters. These should be periodically "regenerated" by the car's software (you will notice a slightly noisier exhaust for a while). There is a Service Icon in the iDrive when these are due to be changed, but they last a very long time normally, and certainly more than 90,000km.
The filters are extremely good at removing the black smoke particles, which signals that you have some sort of serious problem. If the black smoke is there all the time, then look towards the injection/induction system. If it's only there under hard acceleration, particularly after running at low revs for some time, then look towards the filter.
On E39 530d's you could temporarily disconnect the MAF to see if it would cure hesitancy or flat spots, but I don't know if this can be done on the E60 and still get the engine to run!

Mike, Thanks. It happens during hard acceleration.
Anyway, tomorrow I am going to get my mechanic to look at the injectors to check any faulty injectors. Will post you guys an update later on

All 6 injectors are still good
The throttle body need to be cleaned but most suprisingly the the intake manifold has almost half an inch think of carbon already deposited. This is similar to Anzafin topics on major failure of intake manifold. I already asked the mechanic to fully remove the intake manifold and clean it by soaking it into the kinda chemicals. He claimed this can be one of the culprit of heavy black smoke during hard acceleration.
Questions.
1. Any other effective method to clean the intake manifold. I foresee that this need to be cleaned every 50,000 km
2. What is the reason of having a lot of carbon deposited in the inlet manifold
3. The idea of permanently removing the swirl falp will not affect engine performance and reliability

Hi, ive got a similar problem with my 530d during hard acceleration, Did you find out what was causing this can anyone help please???
