I'm waffeling - can't decide if the extra $$$ for the 545 is worth it. Then the next question - if I go 545, should I wait for the SMG gear box? (Wife won't drive standard.) So it is either auto or SMG.

How reliable is the SMG setup? Clutch life?, etc.

530 -> 545 was only $4500 more for me.

compare that to the 7k for 325 -> 330

the new 6-speed steptronic is much improved

i would pass this generation of SMG. read the z4 board on bimmer.org
