I'm not too sure what the hp is on my '04 530, but I know that the '06 has more hp. Can I do anything to my '04 to get the same hp as the '06. I'm not thinking of aftermarket mods. Maybe I can upgrade something on my '04 motor to that of an '06. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I believe it is 225hp and 220 torque vs. 255hp/220tq for the 2006 530i.

IMHO, upgrading engine parts (even if possible) to an '06 spec is not worth the cost. Like me (2005 545i), just get used to the fact that BMW is upgrading engines every couple years to compete with MB and others.

I would just wait until the new 535i (March or Sept 2007?) comes out. It has a "real" 320-340hp and with this engine you will be able to chip it later for up to 400hp.

The best mod you can do with 04 530is reducing weight:
1. Spare tire
2. Replace rims with much lighter ones

Everything I have read seems to indicate its not cost effective spending money trying to upgrade your engine.
Read an article in one of the BMW magazines last weekend. It featured a story about E60 mods...The owner claimed he did some software upgrade that got him an additional 50 HP..I am not sure I believe it. Thats an incredible jump of over 20% which is prettty hard to do, so i would take that with a grain of salt. If it was that easy, you would think BMW would have faster upgrade cycles.

I'ld like to say thankyou for the comments. I think I'll chase the supercharger mod. Has anyone done a supercharger. If so, what brand and what was the end result. Oh yeah, how much?

The 535i will have 306hp and 400nm.
I've driven the 231 hp version of the E60 and I feel a big difference between my own 258hp version and the 231 version.
