Default 528xi transmission going crazy!

I have been having issue with my 2008 528xi, firstly, when i start the car in the morning it starts up fine and immediately after i hear a loud click (sometimes the car moves a few inches aswell), this sound sometime still happens even when the car has been warmed up fully. The second issue i have is, when accelerating from a stop sign or red light, the car goes into gear very hard, as if there someone rear ended me.(sometimes the car also stutters as if the gear engages and disengages many times while slowing down, but this doesn't happen and if it does its mostly when the car is cold)

Now the last issue i just noticed recently is when i am coasting, without touching the accelerator, i hear some sort of clunk, clunk, clunk sound from the rear.

(dont know if this will help but my car also vibrates at highway speeds, but it is on and off vibrations and only happens around 65-78mph, but the vibration stop randomly aswell between those speeds 65-78.)

The problems you've described can't be [properly] diagnosed over the internet. Take the car to a competent independent mechanic. Very likely, there are diagnostic codes set; you or your mechanic needs to read those codes first.

How many miles on that car? Was the transmission serviced? How long you've been driving with these symptoms?

i have no error messages what-so-ever on my main display. Does bmw have an other system of scanning the vehicle for codes? My dad bought this car back in (preowned from bmw) 2010, and has put nearly 102300 miles on it (no warranty left). we have never services the transmission nor do i know about the pervious owner servicing the transmission. and i am not sure how it has been driven as such, but i suspect about 6 months (i got my licence recently, and drive my dads car and noticed these problems). i did go in once to get a oil change and the bmw mechanic said he saw a very small leak in the transmission sleeve, but he said we can still drive without a problem for a bit longer. He was asking 2000$ for a job that is fairly simple and to add to that i have NEVER seen any oil on my garage floor.

Eventhough, there are no errors shown on iDrive, there may be diagnostics codes (referring to trans diagnostics codes) set. Mechanic will know how to retrieve those codes. Those codes will tell you/mechanic the offending/failing part.

Transmission fluid level is very critical. 'Sleeve' is known to leak. So, if you were told the sleeve was leaking. That could have contributed to lower trans fluid, and that can cause the trans to misbehave. Before severe damage [to the trans] is done, I recommend you/your dad to take the car to a competent independent mechanic and have them fix that leak. Since the pan will need to come down to replace the sleeve, you might as well replace the trans fluid.
