i have a 525i automatic trans. and i bought this car salvaged. I bought a new motor from bavarian and had it installed by a mechanic. The engine runs but with some misfires, but the real issue is my transmission has no communication with DIS. i can communicate with DME but not EGS. Also there are no gears displayed on the instrument cluster(it will not show me whether i am in park, neutral or drive) and the cluster shows a transmission failure lamp. Before i take this to the dealer i would like to know every single fuse or relay related to the EGS that could have blown. Id appreciate your help greatly!
thanks

You put a new engine in it? I assume it was an M54 2.5? and Did you take the existing DME that was paired with that engine out so that you could align it up with the CAS, LMA, KOMBI, EGS and all other modules? Dealer is going to ask the same thing and rape you in price and probably fill you full of "lies" (its not a lie to them, they're just unintelligent and believe their lies) Tell me the history...

Sorry to resurrect this thread I did not have much time to look into this, but yes i had changed the motor with a m54 2.5L engine by some private mechanic. I doubt he aligned any of those modules. All he did was simply remove the old damaged engine and replace with the new engine and fired her up. I believe it was a bad idea to have it changed by him but anyways what should i look into now? Is there a way for me to align those modules?
thanks again!
thanks again!
