Hey man, if you are unsatisfy with your car, I will trade my 545i for your 525i.

I never thought people with 525s felt their car was inferior. I'm surprised. We all have the same car - an E60 - even the M5 guys have the same car. We all choose the engine that suits us best. I love power and don't do many miles, so I went for a 545. If I loved power and did a huge amount of miles I'd go for a 530d or 535d. If it was purely about the performance (and not comfort) then I'd go for an M5. Whichever I had I'd feel great.

I love my 525. I have only 2 complaints. 1) I really really wish I would have gotten a 6 speed. I miss it every day, and the stepronic is no replacement. But, my wife will not learn how to drive stick in my car, and it makes swapping cars when necessary very easy. She refuses to learn. 2) I wish my 525 had about 40-50 more HP. I moved from an 06 330i into this, and my 330i was like a rocket. I do miss the extra 50 HP on the highway, hills, etc.
I will say that they did a nice job on the steptronic (DS). It's actually tuned well to compensate for the lack of HP. In the end, it is a heavy car for the motor, IMO, but I really do enjoy driving this car. Especially now that I just put on a new wheels setup. That has helped in the handling dept.
As far as being embarassed? That's a bunch of crap! I live in Chicago, and they don't make a 550xi, so this works out great for me.

I just picked up a 525i as well and I love it! Im in real estate and put on tons of KM's so i needed the smarter choice for gas consumption and the car still has some good power to it. Im going to debadge mine as well but only simply because i feel it looks better like that. I had done it to my previous car, mercedes c230 and loved it

I got my 08' 525i M-Sport LE Carbon Black it was factory de-badged. Its a fast car when you switch into DS and turn off all that DTC/ECS. Today I was racing some around and the only competitor I had was some dude in an Merc CL de-badged with a Lorinser sticker he had a hard time to try to pull me off his tail

About the red-line comment, I completely agree! I love that I can take my car up to 7k in 1st, 7k in second, and still not be going too fast!

For me my 523i is great....Unfortunetaly the previous owner badged it as a 550i! Thats the only reason it got de-badged.
Slightly OT.....but why is my car a 523i...but have a 2500cc engine? Same with the LCI 528's...they have a 3000cc engine?
I allways thought the end 2 numbers related to engine size??
