Exactly, the maping includes road speed so I belive it must be something wrong with the maping involving road speed, shall look into if its possible to log road speed vs coolant temp..

I need at car elektronic specialist.... the fault must be quit obvious..

Did anyone do a reboot of ECU and did it change anything?

I'm planning on doing that stat after transmission pan and oil change this week. So I might get around to doing the stat in 2-3 weeks.

You van squeeze the hose, which goes to transmission thermostat. If engine temperature problem is solved by this way....transmission thermostat is faulty.

Hey,

alexanderxvi, I must ask if this oil cooler is for gearbox or engine oil? (I got a 525i E61 petrol/manual)

Torgny

HI, guys. I haven't started diagnosing yet, but I'm going to check my engine temperature, but I have a problem here in the early winter and my heater does not blow cold air. I am not sure if it's the same issue, but will keep looking at this post. Thank you to all you mechanically-advanced posters!

Received the AT oil stat today, will try to get it in by next week, if not might not get a chance until January fingers crossed!

Hello Knklhead lol do you mean your heater does not blow hot air in winter, as in it's blowing out cold air? That's the same issue we're all having so join in Wouldn't say I'm Mechanically advanced but do super extensive research and enjoy tinkering on cars

Let us know what you find

As Im pretty sure it has to do with speed data to ECU I will... after all holidays get a look at the ABS sensors ..give them a punsh and perhaps replace them..

Happy holidays to you all BMW owners with what seems to be insolvable issues..

Oops, sorry .. yes, I meant to say, my heater blows cold air. I purchased a new thermostat today and will be putting it in over the holiday. 2004 E60 525i M54.

Just for more details, I used the OBC temperature tool and drove around. Generally speaking:

It's about 35 degrees F outside:

Turn on car, literally says 9 degrees C, then slowly up to like 40 and then after several minutes it gets to about 50 while driving and stays low for quite a while!

Stop after fifteen minutes of driving (around suburbs). Restart the car, and it will show like 60 and then start dropping as I drive. Stop at another stop, pick up some stocking-stuffers.

Back in the car and it's like 72 degrees. Start driving and it drops into the 60s. After watching this and a few more stops the highest it ever got was about 82, after a stop, but as soon as I drive it stops to drop.

The temperature is at its highest when I stop, turn the car off for a few minutes and then back on.

I'll update after I put in the new thermostat! For you, could it be faulty new thermostats? And yes, even two of them? Is there a way to check them before installing?
