I dont care much about it because I belive that runing cold is better than the extreme varation from arround 80 degC to some 105 degC, heard about leaking head gaskets.

My car is now at 210000 km and seems pretty stable in operation except electrical faults like PDC and brooken vires in the rear trunk lid hinges....

But the other week I checked the coolant temp and my bogey was back...😁🤣

Since a week back coolant is at 100-105 in city crusing... as weĺl as on highway > 95 km/h... the only thing I repeatedly have practiesed is putting ignition on in pos 2 ...not cranking eng... just letting the system inlcuding Valvetronic doing the self calibration procedure for like 15 sec... which you will hear and voila its hot again.... but do I belive in this ..noooo ... perhaps if it continuos to work and if anyone else can test it and validate any effect.😎
I will keep you updated ...

Cheers mates

Hi

Engine is still to 98 % runing on 99 - 105 DegC... in speeds below 95 km/h.

Im putting in key and ignition on...wait 10 sek then press start.

Still putting in a bottle of STP injector cleaner every refueling.

Thats it... have anyone else tried this...

T 😎

Well it seems like an improvement over running drastically cold. So long as it's not overheating.

Hi

Can inform you that without any obvious reason its running on 80 DegC again.

Spring is here with 15 to 25 degC ambient temp...

🤤

My story: Had to change radiator because of leakage. Bought a aftermarket radiator and installed at got the problem described in this post with coolant temp. Reached max 75 deg C. Change thermostat but temp did not get better.

My OEM radiator is 17117534914 and the aftermarket was ordered according to this number and all the hose connector was exact the same. Used a bluetooth OBD2 connect to whatch the coolant temp. Also used INPA to investigate oil temp. From what I could read from this I started to suspect that the water was bypassing the termostat in some way so I compared the hose connector of the OEM radiator with the aftermarket radiator and then realized that the two bottom hose connector on the OEM radiator was connected in the radiator without connection to the rest of the radiator. The aftermarket radiator was different. When I blew air into the bottom hose connector, the airflowed out of all the 4 other connector of the radiator, meaning that the water could flow through the main intake and out through both the bottom connections bypassing the thermostat.

I'we now ordered at Hella Behr radiator which is blocked between the bottom connectors and the main intake/outlet and now the temp of the car is perfect again. Hella Behr has made the original radiator, I bought the aftermarket radiator from Hella Behr but has exactly the same stickers as the original radiator except that the BMW logo of the sticker is cut out with a knife :-)

Ok i ve been reading up on this issue. To add ive had and still having heating probs on my 2004 545i
114k on the clock. First passenger sidr heating stopped then a month later driver side. After research i came to the conclusion that my heater control valve was faulty so i replaced it. After starting the car leaving it for around 15 minutes i was still waiting for heat nothing there and i conceded thinking it wasnt the answer. The next day i decided to drive... its a only a werkend car...
then hey presto heat i was so happy then when i slowed down my bubble was burst no heat doeed up heat slow down no heat im baffled
